Building content sites, web apps, back-end systems, and hardware prototypes

We step in where software meets day-to-day operations. You get direct access to the developers writing your code, honest scope conversations, and 28 years of practical experience.

Most of our work sits in the unglamorous middle: the site that needs to ship, the app the field team depends on, the API that has to keep running.

That's the work we like.

Working together

Straightforward collaboration, low overhead.

A few things we try to keep true on every project:

  • The people who scope the work are the people who build it.
  • We talk through trade-offs instead of pretending the spec is fixed.
  • Scope shifts happen. We're upfront about them.

Where we plug in

From content-rich sites to back ends that stay calm under load.

Five areas cover most of what we do, and plenty of projects span more than one.

Content Sites

Marketing, editorial, and docs sites. We know solid patterns, can suggest improvements, and keep the moving parts to a minimum.

Astro · Starlight · Tailwind

Web Apps & SPAs

Applications for complex workflows: dashboards, field tools, and interfaces shaped around how your team works.

Vue · Vuetify

Back Ends

APIs, data pipelines, background jobs, and the integrations that tie them together.

Go · TypeScript · Python

Consulting & Support

The small but critical stuff: planning, design, implementation, data management, reporting, deployment, and AI tools or workflows when they earn a place. A mixed bag of work.

Software to hardware

Hardware Prototyping

For when an idea needs to get off the whiteboard and run on real hardware: boards, sensors, and the software that ties them together.

How we work

A clear process sized to the work

Every client works a little differently, so we keep the structure light and fit it to yours. Usually it looks like this.

  1. Start with a conversation

What you need, the constraints, and who signs off. Then a scoped plan.

  2. Build in slices

Staged deliveries of working software, refined as real usage shows where to adjust.

  3. Wrap up, or keep going

Some projects end with a handoff, others settle into years of steady upkeep. Either way, we write things down as we go.

Dendra Science

A cloud platform that ingests, curates, and serves time-series data from environmental sensor networks for research groups and organizations. Our work spans the stack: Go APIs and job workers, Vue apps, Astro sites, and field hardware, including a prototype remote wildlife system that identifies animals on the device itself.

Hyperdrive Agile

Agile consulting and training for organizations from startups to the Fortune 100. We build their web presence end to end: an Astro content site and a Vue storefront for training and events, with e-commerce and a headless CMS (Directus) behind them.

TLCBD

The Tenderloin Community Benefit District keeps a San Francisco neighborhood clean, safe, and connected through street teams and community programs. We help with field devices and MDM, tools like Fulcrum and Jia, reporting in Data Studio, and the Mac and Windows apps their teams run day to day.

Cellpoint Systems

A Bay Area manufacturer for electronics, enclosures, and new product introduction. We worked with them on a consumer-electronics retail program: cloud software and in-store systems that manage display content, device updates, and reporting across store locations.
