You might be on a guest network at a friend’s house or at an internet cafe. Sometimes these networks are configured so that devices cannot “see” each other via Bonjour networking.

To work around this limitation and perform a transfer:

Launch Snagbee and capture your screen shots as you normally would while your computer is connected to the guest or public network.

When you’re ready to transfer, you’ll need to create a Computer-to-Computer network so that your Mac and iPhone can talk to each other directly.

Go to the Airport menu in the menu bar (upper right of corner of your screen) and choose Create Network. Alternatively launch System Preferences, click on Network, then choose Create Network in the Network Name list.

Click OK to create a Computer-to-Computer network. Take note of the network name in this window. This is the network that your iPhone needs to connect to in the next step.

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, then choose the name of your network that you created in step 4. If you specified a password when creating this network, then be sure to enter it.

Your computer will be disconnected from the internet while your private network is active. You may now Tap to Transfer using Snagbee mobile.

When you’re done, go back to the Airport menu and choose the public network that you were connected to originally. You may also do the same on your iPhone through Settings > Wi-Fi.

Here’s a troubleshooting checklist:

Your device must be registered with the Snagbee desktop application. Go to Preferences > Devices in Snagbee desktop to verify that your device is listed.

Your device must allow transfers from your computer. Go to Home > Settings in Snagbee mobile to verify that your computer is listed.

Snagbee desktop must be running on your Mac. Snagbee doesn’t care if you have any windows open. It just needs to be running.

Go to Manage Captures and verify that the option Transfer to device is checked for at least one screen capture.

Your iPhone and Mac must be on the same local network; preferably at home or at work. If you have a guest network, your device or computer may accidentally be on a different wi-fi network.

If you are Waiting to transfer in Snagbee mobile, then tap Back to stop. Pause for about 10 seconds. Try tapping to transfer again.
